Nancy, thanks for the info. I saw Nicks but didn't stop. I really like McGuires and a few others. I know how the 'beach crowd' and brekers are as I lived in Daytona for awhile. Its not quite as hot there in the summer as I was beachside in what they call So Daytona. Traffic you just have to know the hours and try and work around it. Its the price gouging I can't see. I thought that that bridge was new. Its nice and the waters are great. Oh yes, southern people don't know what 'grinders' are and we Yanks don't generally know what a pop or sack is to say nothing about a buggie. (soda, grocery bag, and grocery cart). The Clan IS active here. Hey, they are indorcing the CC in Augusta so as not to let people in they don't want, what a hoot. Such a prestidigous place and such the opposite stigma endorcing!!!!! I myself believe that the governments place is to educate and advise and let us make our own decisions and not force ideas onto anyone whom dosen't want them. Afterall, what IS freedom. Its just as bad as the 'crunchies' trying to force their ultra liberal attitudes on the conservative rights. Hi Gang..................Roland, I know Destin quite well..........I lived in Niceville many moons ago..........long before they finally built the mid-bay bridge...........there is a really nice community beyond Destin on the way to Panama City called "Seaside". It is one of those planned communities and very well laid out..........right on the coast............we used to go snorkeling near the Destin Bridge...........that was in the 80s-early 90s........I left there in 91 and came back once in a while to visit. Lou was there until 94. we rented the house out for a while and finally sold it in 97. boy, that seems like such a long time ago. I still have friends in the area and some are retired and living there now. The water is awesome, but the traffic can be a pain..........we had a ski-sport boat so Lou could do his bass fishing and we could go skiing with the "gang". There used to be a seafood place on the road from Niceville to Freeport called "Nick's Seafood". It has the nice down home cooking and very friendly people. There is another truck stop place we used to go to in a small town called "Bruce", I believe it is the Cafe...............great biscuits.............all homemade..........we went there all the time with our group when we went motorcycling...............that was another time.........too hot for me in the summers, but I really liked the spring, winter and fall...........we were far enough away from the beach crowd, and spring breakers to have a nice time. Guess alot of the "tourist traps" are closed still for the winter............oh well. Have a nice time there..............yes, they burned a cross in my neighbors yard one time..............it never changes there, guess that is the scary thing............the area we lived was commonly called LA......for "lower alabama". You guys seem to keep pretty actibve with the site, I get on through the web as well, Pat. Sorry, I didn't get to see your pictures yet, John.............sounds like they are a hoot. Yes, you are lucky to be in VT in many ways. I find that I like taking the accounts out in the country, The people are more polite and trusting and seem to enjoy the "little" things more. Certainly Atlanta isn't like that anymore, but 20 miles out its not too bad. Cumming is still pretty nice even though the Klan still has a large hold there. They used to have a sign when you entered the county that Blacks were not welcome. It was still up when I fiest moved here 8 years ago. Its funny the things we are afraid of. Like you speaking of the NYC experience. The opposite is true too. City dwellers are afraid of quiet and critters that go boo in the night. Talk about frustrating.... I am in Destin Fl tonight and getting on the net was something else. I had the phone co on one phone, hotel on another, and Earthlink techies on the third all to find a "blocked" line. We got it though. What a change in weather, its in the 70's here and the water even though still cold looks quite inviting. Had dinner at a favourite Irish Pub tonight. They don't know the meaning of small portions. Its awesome!!

Well I was just kidding around! I think that we have all been made to feel uncomfortable and, at times, like a victim in this buyer-beware society. When I lived in NYC, I always felt a momentary panic when I walked out of my apartment- until I was doubly sure that I had my keys and my wallet. To be locked out of my apartment in NYC scared me more than spiders and to not have money in a place that only interacts with you in exchange for money scared me more than snakes. I heard an unexpected comment from a customer that I visited on Tuesday in CT. He explained to some of his workers that I live in a place where people live there because they like it, not because it is where their work is. It's true- people are pretty nice here (me too)!

Gee Richard, thought I was the only one who acted that way. Its not that people are stupid I think there is just too much going on and different people selectively shut stuff out to the point where it becomes automatic and unfortunately important details get spazzed out. Oh well. Things do go better when you PUT yourself in a good mood. It happens immediately but human nature wants to blame and lash out.

Lori, I don't travel EVERY day but things are happening fast and I am the liaison and get to set my own schedule but do travel about half the month. My friends call me the road map, just ask Roland he'll tell you how to get there. I do enjoy it and am home enough to garden, ride my bikes (dirt and motorcycle) or in season waterski. We had awful ice last night so I changed my direction and went more southerly. I didn't realize Memphis gets that cold. Hows your weather, are you on high ground? John, you're right. Someone makes a mistake like that and still keeps their job?!?!?! I run into it al the time but usually go to the top and get free stuff. The phone co screwed up my last 3 moves and thus I got free service. This time my phone oine went down the fixed it in one day. They must have my name on a black list not to screw with. I am polite usually but want and demand action when I am the one paying the bill. They are high enough so I expect close to perfection. I never want anyone fired and usually don't blame the person on the bottom but reem the management out. Its they who are not training properly or supervising properly. The GM dealership screwed up with my mom and her Buick. She went to the top and got free service for as long as she owned the vehicle so I come by it naturally. You aught to get something free. Thanks for the info Pat. Most people do need a prod and then ther are ones that are quite hospitable when you visit and always welcome you but you are lucky if you can get them to send a Christmas card. I'm not a "joiner" per se but growing up with my background of family I always like to know who is who and what we all are doing. I'm not the inspirational thinker like Richard but I like commaradary. Then I pick and choose my interests but always like to learn. Some of us are happy just to stay home. I got in contact with Wes Macy whom I was friendly with in 8th grade or so and he emailed me back a few times but very few words. It looks like from his post times he is up late. He might be one of them that would like an invite. Tonight I'm in Birmingham headed to Huntsville tomorrow. We had terrible tropical storm this w/e and and flooded lots of people out. Roland, Jon tried many times and was unable to log into the site. I imagine there are others for whom this was also a problem. He even consulted with our Guru Brian but it never worked out. This was all pre-reunion. I'm interested in knowing who the others are that you think would be interested in the site. Would love to get them on board. If you click on the Team Button you see just above the posting window, you come to two lists. The first is all the people who have entered the site at least once. The majority of these folks are not talking, just watching or long gone. Who knows but many if not most of those folks have never posted. The second list is all the people who have been invited to Blogger and who have not responded or who have not been able to log in for whatever reason. All of our e-mail addresses are there as well and are hyperlinked. There's a button that says add team members for the new names you wish to invite. The last time I looked at Classmates.com there were a couple of new names in our class listing. I wrote to these foks telling them about the blog site and asking if they wished to be invited and if they wished to be on the class mailing list. They did not respond. So I presume that is a no.

I've been trying to find a way to invite a whole bunch of people at once without having to re-type in all there addresses. Help menu doesn't really address my question. Everyone on the list has been invited at least twice, though not recently. There is for some people an inability to log in. Jon Lewis tried many times and finally gave up a year ago. Brian has reminded me in the past that this site is free and I should be a smidge (my word) less picky. I do get frustrated though. If you think it will help I will re-invite folks again but I don't think it will. Many people listed themselves on the sheet at the reunion as wanting to get a blogger invite. Of all those people. Maybe 3 have come in. It's just not everyone's cuppa tea ya know? anyone with administration abilities can invite or remove members. We all have that. I check the list whenever someone such as Roland comes in and check off the admin. box.

I had lunch with Brian yesterday. He is still the world's hardest working man and hasn't surfaced for months because of it. I will send him an email. Also, I have an email in with Blogger (for about 6 weeks now), but every time that we post we get the same old error message. I don't really understand much about it- they have "help" listings that are not much help- at least to me. I agree that many are missing out on the intellectual missiles!

Small world chapter 73...a couple of seniors who serve as volunteers for my program call me up and say "was your father Don Way?" When I answer in the affirmative, they let me know that they lived on Woodbury Rd., graduated from SHS in '58/'59 and the Mrs (Fersing) still wears a ski sweater that she bought in my dad's shop sometime during the Kennedy administration. Hi Everbody, I just got back online, my computer died, so we just got another one yesterday. Pat had to reinvite me to Blogger because I cloudn't get in, I was probably doing something wrong, too technical for me, Thanks Pat. I hadn't been to Blogger in several days before that, so it was fun catching up. I will add to Richard and Karen's stories. I was stationed with anoter Nancy Brown, I liked her she was a nice girl but I kept getting in trouble because of her behavior, let's just say she had lost her Goodie Two Shoes, LOL. Oh well we were both young and dumb. I guess I'll go add the rest of my names to my address book, fortunatly I thought to print it before I lost it, should have put it on disk then I could have copy and pasted. Oh well, live and learn.

Happy Valentines everyone too! Temp is fairly normal here for this time of year. Goes to 30's at night and hits the mid 50's to 60's in the day. Supposed to be warmer this w/e but rain rain rain. The south does have a monsoon season and its here. Lori, are you flooded under yet. Got lots of the wet stuff at our office in Rancho Cucamonga. Opals your say Richard? You must be doing great and still charming the ladies I see, ha ha. My company is going into lots of new products and the merchandising is awesome. The displays are whats get you. We had it like that when we were growing up, remember? The thing got always got me was when they had mud days. Imagine my surprise last evening when I was sitting on my couch watching the local evening news and saw my husband buying me 12 long stemmed red roses at a local florist. There was a local television station at the florist while Dave was there and they interviewed Dave on his thoughts regarding V-Day! They also asked him what he was hoping to get from his Valentine. He thought quickly and said " You're putting me on the spot here. I think a nice kiss and dinner together." What a guy!

I just read an article that answered your question by saying, "How much time do you have to hear the answer?" The newest Sony Clie is pretty sweet with a flip-up color screen, MP3, and a digital camera. Not sure about GPS. One of the things you need to decide on is operating system- meaning that you have to be able to do this or that or don't care 'cause ???? Ski GA!!! Now there's a different bumper sticker.

Richard, sounds like you have fun on your trips. I always make the most of mine. Haven't boarded for a while yet but this winter actually could have here in the NE corner of GA. We have ONE lonely ski area. To add to all the duplicates there is another Roland McCarthy here in Ga and when I fist came we got mail from one another as they were changing something in ATL which seems to be a constant. He lives in Macon about 1.5hrs from here. Oh Richard, know anything about palmtops? We are trying to get up and running for our field personell. This would avoid lots of FedEx charges and aide in office time. I want to attach a GPS to mine. Those little things are great. Been getting round via maps for years and they call me DR Road Map as I don't even have to look usually but there are so many new developments all over its hard to keep up. I'm trying to keep things as simple as I can they way its easier for the "masses" to focus. Presently working on a new fleet vehicle plan, fun, ha ha. Going to call Paige some day and see if he remembers me. We only live a few towns apart. A kid I went to kindergarden with in CT lives just down the road. Small world. Keep on creating dude, it makes people think and thats something most don't want to do anymore. Far too many drones out there, freeways are full of them, ha ha.

It's snowing again here now and we're expecting -20 degree temperatures over the next two days, that is before factoring in the wind chill. My tulips are buried under over 3 feet of snow Roland. It's going to be a while.

Karen, I really like your son's website! I enjoyed the whole process of viewing his work. I hope he finds good chances. His technical skills are clear in all of the work, but for me the interactive hand was the most artistic- teaching me something new. Many of his pieces are elegant. That is great and required for so many applications, but primitive portrayals are totally fine and often enhance something that is unique and conceptual. My work these days is on wireless networks, keeping people connected on cell phones and other wireless handheld devices. I was on business in AZ, CO, and WY last week which is how I got a day on my snowboard at Grand Targhee and a chance to be "the other Richard Loveless" in Phoenix. I visited Ericsson in Denver and they have streaming video cards (to support Dick Tracy cell phones) nearly ready for radio base stations. Like anything, it could be "good" or a "who cares". I'd like it for cultural connectivity, I am less interested in the latest sports scores.
