get drunk, tell people what i think, and slink out of town (again?!?). wow, this could be a real jerry springer event for me. pat, i didn't see the pajama party coordinator on the list of appointed officials, but if bill flore can organize a golf tournament- then i think a pajama party would not be a problem and you should get the recognition that you are due. semper ubi sub ubi, richard

hi, i am glad a little "last year of the 60's- 1972" fervor is coming together. i don't care if i wear a john candy face or a steve martin face. i just love the look in kid's eyes when you give them some candy. it is worth raising your mask and making eye contact. showing them that your pretty sure that you love them by making eye contact- it is the best community service that i think you can do. the whole idea of the alumni day parade is that there is a story that came before today and you tell that story by being a really wonderful person that reaches out and makes contact. that's all from here. peace-out-cosmo-dogs! richard
Karen, you mentioned Odyssey of the Mind. My brother's daughter is part of that competition. I think her group is going to Detroit at the end of May.
Kathi, yes I decided I will come to the reunion this time! I didn't RSVP yet, but I'll do that soon. By the way, do you have the telephone number of the Hartness House so I can call and reserve a room? I'll be coming by myself. Avi will be coming with me in July on the trip to Israel and then Sicily with my family, so I guess that' s enough traveling for him.
Avi and the kids surprised me for my birthday. They gathered together almost all my poems and sent them in to a company that puts them together in book form. So I now have a book of my poems! That was a nice idea. I did catch some proofreading mistakes, and there were some poems in there I might not have included if I had known, but I'm really glad to have the book to give out to family and friends and whoever is interested.

We are still firming up details for the float...Richard, everyone liked your idea of the Park Bench scene from the movie, so that is what we are planning to do. Very simple....no one has a lot of time to work on an elaborate float. Thanks Richard! We are really hoping for at least 80 people to come to the reunion dinner. That is the number that was given to the Hartness House, who needed a specific number way back in October. So come on everybody send back your replies!
Lori, are you coming?? Karen V??? Anybody else????
Rain expected here tomorrow into Saturday. Temps in the 60s today.
Karen, glad you had a great trip to St. Thomas. Sounds lovely...
They are showing the VERMONT FALLEN documentary at Springfield High School on May 9th for the student body and later that evening at the Congregational Church for the public. Family members are asked to be there...not really sure if I want to watch it twice in one day but will. Happy Thoughts.................

Hey Pat, thanks for forwarding the info to Deb. I received my invitation et el yesterday. It was mailed back on the 11th. So much for snail mail eigh? Atl area is really bad with their delivery and thats why I got a pob as when I had an actual mail box it just didn't even arrive sometimes. Very hot and sticky already. Storms coming in today so after our Co meeting this am we elected not to work (as its mostly outside survey stuff) so I am catching up on little things that just never get done. God Bless and my best to all who read this.

My trip to VT was great in many ways. The mountains are fabulous even in this time of year when things are not in bloom. Rutland was in tough straights. Still some power outages were still being work on and I saw quite a bit of tree damage in yards. Still it was good to be there. I went by our former homes. Not generally a good idea. Proved to be the case here as well. No one does to your home what you would do.

interesting turn of events got me to finish up courses in civil engineering and was offered a great position with a national co..... and I took but can work only a few town away. full benefits plus co vehicle & stock. Hard to find one of those these days and the people are nice too. I just keep pinching myself. Hoep all are unfrozen by now up yonder. We've had the air on for about a month.

Spring has finally arrived in VERMONT! It was close to 70 today and will be for the weekend. Got out my little charcoal grill and cooked out for supper tonight. Last Sunday we had a Northeaster and this Sunday we can wash the car. I probably won't but....one could. I finished painting my livingroom today. Went wild with color....from white to buttercream....lol. Have a great weekend everybody...nice to see others returning....Happy Thoughts........

I'm glad it worked Eric. Talk to you again soon. things are changes here all the time on the site.
All the members: now being called authors; who have been here are able to continue but those who had invitations pending will need to be re- invited. Even the list of those folks is no longer available to be read. So I'll try to reemember who was on that list and I'm work on it when I get back to Presque Isle.
Off to Rutland in the a.m. Still lots of power outages there I here. Guess I'll get to see for myself. Then back to Maine later in the day. Home for sure on saturday. At least I hope so. G'night all for a couple of days.
Patti

Well we know where Roland is, don't we??? You know all about the reunion just by reading it hear but you'll need to send in your $.
Jon lewis is a Classmates .com member so hopefully he is seeing the info there. I sent an e-mail to Jane Haseltine no word yet.
The things is here that there are less than a dozen of us using this site so I don't think we will get much more help from each other regarding missing addresses.
Given the apparent concerns at the Hartness House, maybe somone needs to look into a different venue and try to et ack the deposit.

I've known Mary since grade school and have seen her around lots, her daughter went to Union Street School, etc...They live in Bird Land. Mary was not a complainer about her illness which they discovered during her pregnancy with her daughter. I admire her fight and committment to her family. The service was very upbeat, though very sad. I can not imagine loosing a mother that young.
Pat, I hope that you have a good trip and a nice visit. I hadn't heard much about Rutland weather damage. It is still raining here. Hopefully, the Spring weather will come SOON. You should come for the meeting...anyone else is more then welcome. Tomorrow 4/18 at 6:30 at McKinleys.

Boy kathi, you're a good person to go to the funeral. It would be awful to loose your mom at 14. Did she live in the area?
I'm at the Best Western in Waterville. Heading to Vt in the morning. I'll be going to williston and visit with Rachel for a couple of days and then going on Friday to see Lynne at the Nursing Home. Rutland was really hit hard from I've seen on the news. The nursing home has power but it's pretty bad all around town I hear. Loads of rain on the way down and I"m not really sure what I'll be heading into tomorrow but I need to pick up the last of Dad's things and take some to Lynne also.
Wish I could come to the meeting tomorrow. Wouldn't that be fun!

I heard back from Mike G. He says we probably know a lot of people in the class of '72. They have a band and probably we'd need to pay a couple of hundred dollars to do this. As we know, because the HH is a hotel and has other guests (besides us I mean) then we can't continue our reunion celebration after 10. Try not to start screaming karen. You party animal you!!!!

it was the best music ever!!! it was a gas, gas, gas! how 'bout janis joplin's opening cut on "cheap thrills"? it is called "combination of the two"- i love it and it always gets me on the dance floor. no reason to stay too- wcfr on this whole thing. the band did "music from big pink" and there was so much soul and it just goes on forever. i was just listening to leonard cohen singing "suzanne" today. i like karen's idea!
I have listings of the top 100 songs from each of the years 68 to 72. I'm going to get John's address and send it to him. Hopefully his nephew who is our musical entertainment will play songs from our era. That's what I'd like anyway? Any one else want to weigh in on this? I know Karen V mentioned it with our last reunion but it wasn't done.

This weekend's weather has postponed my trip over to visit with Rachel. I'm going now Wed and Th and head back to ME on Friday. It's nice to have the week off from school. I haven't been back to VT since Daddy's funeral. Rachel has has to move into a different, less expensive apartment. It's in the same bldg. in S. Burlington though. Hope the weather goes back to warmish. It's expected to up here.

I was sliding through channels this evening and a show called The Riches caught my eye. The reason being they were at a high school reunion. They had these great name tags that had their senior class photos on them. Yum.
What do you think? Too much?????????
I do think it might be fun to have a photo collage . Surely we have pictures hanging around that we could share that would be fun. Not strictly our classmates but even ones including our mate mates as long as the phonto was from days gone by. What made me think of this was that I came accros a spectacular photo of David and I with Janice and Butch in Barnard at our family camp. Colin kept saying, is that Tom Selleck??? Of course since my hubby is in the photo that means it was several years after high school, but my we did look young. And little.

Happy Birthday from me, too, Richard! Mine's coming up soon, too--April 22. You can all subtract a few years from mine, too, for good behavior....
No snow here, but yesterday was REALLY windy. The power went out at Avi's business, so most of them left early. I still went hiking with my friend, though--fallen branches all over the trail.
Patti, we have an empty nest now as of a few weeks ago. My middle son and his girlfriend moved into their own apartment. It's empty, but they all come by a lot, so I haven't had time to feel the emptiness! (Or enjoy it!)

Well Richard, Happy belated birthday to you! Remember that some of us got in the boat before you and are doing just fine. No sudden additional aches or grey hairs. Just the continuing steady decline....................Ooops, is it time for the "You're as young as you feel." speech? My dad used to say it was just the pills he took every morning keeping him alive. I always replied then keep taking them.
The heavy wet snow is making a mess of spring up north here. Branches are coming down and I get to spend a school snow day waiting to hear from kevin that he made it back to Potland all right. Motherhood, what a pain. I've always been a worry wart and I imagine I always will be when it comes to my "babies".
Colin is planning to move to Portland also. Dave and I will finally be official empty nesters. I don't think you can count having your kids pay rent across town but eat all the meals, launder, exercise, compute and TV watch in your home as actually having moved out. You know? We will really miss him though if this happens. He's fun to have around and helpful when I need him to be. Especially when Dave is travelling. I imagine our revolving front door will swing open again some time though. Just a hunch.
The memorial for Dave's mom last night was very well done. The Pastor hadn't met her before but managed with the talk we'd all had together to speak as though he might have known her. He reminded us of the pleasant times years ago before her dementia made life so difficult. We both appreciated this very much. Frankly we'd forgotten. It's been a rough go for many years, as I'm sure many of you can relate to.
Karen, keep those ideas coming, I think Kathi is a happily jotting them down to take them to the meeting. Deb may be peeking in here too, I'm not sure.
Enjoy the day everyone! - Pat

okay, i am ready to put the moose on the table. it is my birthday. it is not so bad if people find out that it is my birthday, it is just hard to tell them how old i am. so, i can tell you guys that it is my birthday and not have to be concerned about telling you how old i am. if any of you are having trouble with the math, remember to subtract a few years for good behavior (please, cuz i have been very good).
It is snowing here...wet, heavy snow, about 4 inches thus far. School was let out at 1:00, which was fine as we won't have to make up the day at the end of the year. I ended up subbing with only 11 children there. Must say that's the perfect class size! We'll see what tomorrow brings, as its the last day before Spring Vacation. The reunion committee are meeting next Wednesday 4/18, so any more ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Happy Thoughts...........

karen, i stand down, flumoxed and bamboozled under your care and love. i have to go geico lizard on this one- ya' know, cute but a little off kilter. i think martha is an above average chick from connecticut that is way above average in personal creativity. i actually don't care a lot about her business piece or anything else from her personal life. the thing about the explosive reporting styles that attack folks like her is pretty interesting. with everything that we learn in the media, there should be freedom to pick a direction based on what we learn. BUT, we hear the dirt and we can only pick one direction which is depression. where is the reporting that lets us learn something and say, "hey this is a great adventure?" why does the anxiety of insight always force us toward depression???
Well you know Karen, if we were the only people staying at the hotel that night then we could stay up and make all the NOISE we want. Isn't that a perfect solution. I already have my room Friday and Saturday. Anyone else???
Absolutely, Friday night get together and then head to Barlows Barn and help finish up the float. Picnic post parade, perfect.
Is anybody in Spfld. listening!!??

okay karen, please shoot me before i even start. i'm waiting babe. . . . . . . . . well, you missed this chance, but i know that there will be more chances to come. let me start by saying that i think love is a good thing, but i think that being blind is just that. so i ask myself if your relationship with martha is love or blindness. martha stewart, the class of 1963 somewhere, lied to federal investigators about her december 2001 stock sale, which came just before imclone's share price collapsed. multimillionaire martha saved $45,000. imus just said whacko stuff about the rutgers womans basketball team. i am sitting here saying to myself that these guys are smoking some nasty weed. i am pretty sure that if i was smoking the same weed i would never sell out my shares of imclassof72 or say that anyone of us is a nappy headed anything. i do think i could make some pretty bad ass party favors. yeah, okay, now i think we have some perspective!
It's warming up here again, 40's thank goodness. Same tomorrow so the melting has begun again.
Karen I forwarded your questions about "activities" to Janice and Deb. I'm hoping to hear back from them but Kathi you've been at the meetings haven't you?? So you would have given us the scoop yes????????????
Funeral Thursday night and then we move quickly into April vacation week. Really looking forward to it. I thought maybe I'd go over to VT for a bit to visit with Rachel. We'll see

Welcome Eric.... looking forward to seeing people I haven't seen in 30 years. Looks like I'll just be up and back. Was offered a position from courses I was taking and accepted it so..... busy as usual but liking it now. Sorry about all that snow ya'll. Its chilly here for a few days. It only reached the mid 40's today. Ugh, we got used to the mid 70's into the high 80's already. I've used the AC lots but now had to switch back to the heat.

Hi all, I'm on a school trip with kiddoes!!!! It's a Destination Imagination State Competition. 19 students; middle and high school . It's loads of fun. We're staying at the Hampton Inn in Bangor. It's cookies and milk time. My favorite .
So the letters have come out and a bunch came back names, addresses and reasons like that that they didn't go through. I'm, going to post the info on classmates.com and also here. I'll be listing the "missing" or returned invitations so those of you who know someone can let them know. OK????

We had about 8 inches of heavy wet stuff. A huge limb broke over our driveway from the tree in our front lawn. Neil was out at 1:30 this morning with the chainsaw cutting a way through to get to work. Needless to say, he was a little late. He plans on cutting up more when he gets home from work. We had a two hour school delay which was great. By then the roads had become manageable and less time at school! Hope we don't have snow in June, Lori!!!!

It is snowing here! After a day of off and on freezing rain there is now at least 4 inches on the ground and still coming down. Wonder if there will be a snowday tomorrow???? Let us hope not! I really don't want to be in school until the end of June!! Personally, I am more then ready for Spring!!!!
Welcome Eric. There is usually a crowd of people at the float building /decorating too.
Happy Thoughts..............

Several people have asked to be invited to the blog and I've sent them invitations but I haven't seen any of them here. I'm not sure if it's a conflict with the old and new Blogger versions.I think from what I read we all need to move to the new version if we haven't already. I know some people have said they can read but not post. I'm trying to figure it out. Partly it seems that we need the originator of the blog to move to the new version. Since he isn't anywhere to be seen...........Hello Brian???? that seems to be blocking the Blog itself from being updated. It's a puzzle.

Well we're back, somewhat tan and very tired, poor us. We encountered the usual screw ups at Logan Airport and didn't get home till 2 a.m. instead of 10:40 p.m. Once again, poor us.........
We spent the coffee hour reading sympathy cards. Odd way to start the day. Lots of lovely thoughts from nice people. Our thanks to all of you. Though Dave's dad and my sister Lynne are both still in rehab (Lewiston, ME and Rutland, VT) they are making progress.
I'm glad to hear letters are going out about the reunion. I haven't received one but mail comes slowly up here The County. Dave and I have reservations for Friday and Saturday at the HH. Debbie says we have use of a flat bed and a barn so let the building commmence! Lori, don't make me come out there and get you. Come to the reunion please
It's good to be home with all of you
