Remember don't hold me to the cost yet because that is still being discussed. That was a ball park figure that we came up with at the last meeting. Things could change. Till it is final.

We haven't come to a final agreement yet on cost but I believe it is going to be 25.00 per person. That will help cover food, entertainment and hall.
I will refer to your email list. But I still have to type them out anyway since I am doing regular mailing addresses, that way we can send them out
faster instead of hand writing them.

John, has there been any word on cost?
The list I send out periodically (sent one yesterday) is complete. Those are all the people I have spoken to and who have agreed they'd like to be on the list and receive mailings. There are 39 members I believe. If you look here in blogger under my team. Its on the tool bar at the top of the site, you see two lists. One is active members of blogger with e-mail addresses and one is those who have been invited but have not responded. Their addresses are shown also. So you don't have to type a list and send to me, it's all available to you already. The other thing is there are many people listed in classmates whom I have written to about being on the list but who have declined to responed. The addresss for the former Joanna Birsky - Krishna Khalsa - seems to be incorrect. Her lettter returned undeliverable. So did one other but off the top of my head I can't remember which. A man though.

You can stop typing that list now. :-)

Pat.... I am working on getting you a list of the classmates to you. I have them all that was 5 years ago. Would you be willing to go through these and see what email addresses you have and the ones you don't we are going to send them a letter about the reunion. That would be a big help. I have to type all the names and addresses so it will take me a couple of days. That way there we can have the labels printed out without a hassle. I went to the meeting and so far it is definite on the Rockingham Hall. We are getting in touch with a DJ that said he would do it. And also we are going to have supper Catered. We are working out the final details so I don't want to say too much so everybody don't get the wrong impression. We just have to verify the DJ and Caterer. Looks good so far. We had a good chat together and talked about alot of things.

Richard...still skiing then...it's been years since I've been more than once or twice a year. I think the last time I went at all was three years ago and my boots (from my dad's shop circa 1977) fell apart. Did you see that RTM has reopened as some kind of members only area? I visited the old place three or four years ago and it looked like a ghost town. The lift cables went up into the trees...the lodge was abandoned and in pretty bad shape..it was open so we walked inside..very weird..the cafeteria was still there and a bunch of signs and stuff...ghosts in down parkas. I'm working as the director of a non profit serving seniors up in the islands..hanging around with 80 year olds makes ya feel just a little younger..sort of.

Robin, You know we have already been covered against age discrimination for the last eight years (since we were 40) under Federal law. I can also tell you there were memories in my head of skiing with you at Round Top 32 years ago as I ripped through 10 to 20 inches of powder this morning. It was so good!!!!

I guess it would be interesting for me to see where everyone "is" after all these years, hopefully, the years have been kind to us all. I guess the bond is still there after all these years, Pat. My Mom will mention some name that brings back memories of school. Although I don't have children myself, I used to wonder about young people that I had to train and how I was old enough to be their mother!! Sobering thought and yet we are now our parents........but it is good that we can take this time to get back together, even for a short time. Lets just hope that it can continue after June........being in the military has taught me that you learn to keep up with people. I only do it at Christmas for some, and we seem to move more often, but we have a central locator that we can use to try and find people. Most give their parents address...........but most of the people I know now are retired, so we are basically PUT for the time being.......enough philosophy!!!! Lets have fun!!! We only live once, right?

I was talking to someone at work telling her it hadn't occurred to me when I was surrounded by all my friends and relatives back in Spfld. that we would become our parents and our friend's parents. We would move away, lose our jobs, our loved ones,our mariages, our friends. I often ask myself why was it so easy to wander off into my adult life. Except that I keep forgetting I'm a grown up. I look at my students and think I'm one of them and chaperoning a dance is like hanging out in the gym at Riverside, clinging to the wall with a handfull of girls. Desperately hoping ............

Yet, it seems to me that just the fact that we have come here together says I'm probably not alone with these feelings. I'm really anxious to get to TX this April and see Jane and Nancy and then in June everyone else who can make it back. It's turns out that even with the world as big as it and us as spread all over the place as we are , maybe we're not so far apart at all.

My Dad won't e-mail--he has his girlfriend do it for him. Now there's a concept.

Whoa, Robin, lets not go there yet!! 48 is still hard for me get used to, time flies by so fast. I'm still trying to get my Mom a computer..........she seems like she wants to learn and likes the idea of emailing. I remember my grandmother (bless her) told me way back when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, that she would never have imagined that she would be able to see it on TV, let alone think of a man walking on the moon. She was born in 1900 and all the things she has seen and experienced just amazed her. I can't wait to meet the rest of the class and see how life has treated them, hopefully, it has been kind to us all. And some of us are parents, even.

...so if I was sitting around the playground of East School in say...1966 and knew that 36 years later I could be "electronic bungee jumping" with Dick (sorry Richard...hard habit to beat) Loveless and BK I guess that I would have smiled just a bit. This is not nearly as weird as the first time that I got an e mail from my mother. Do you realize that this will be our last reunion before we start getting mail from AARP?

It is funny to put conversation out in an open forum. How do you say something to someone but nobody in particular? I have always been a little shy because I am pretty different, but given the choice of staying invisible or not; I have consistently opened my heart, accepted the possibility of salt in the wound, and recognized that I am somehow no less for the wear.

I know this is unlikely to make Linda feel any greater comfort about a strange basis for interaction like blogger. The real point is that we all started out in the same place- forests, school, church- whatever. Since then, I have chosen the nice memories to hold on to because I know life got hard and life got very real for all of us on the first day I never saw any of you again. And, it has been real weird since then to see some of the hard things in life. It has also been really great to think that we have grown up and been there for our families and close friends.

So when one of the chicks from the nest says wow the world, technological and otherwise, leaves me feeling a certain level of discomfort and then Brian King tells me we should do the electronic equivalent of bungy jumping- hey I get that. But you know I feel really fortunate to have had you all as classmates. Let's try and make it feel OK for each other. It is about the future. I want you to all have great futures and if somehow you know me better and laugh a little harded when we blog for our 60th reunioun, that would be really good.

I've had a couple of nice long letters from Linda Hays Brochu and although she doesn't feel comfortable with the technology of blogger she has asked me to say hello to you all. She'd love to get e-mail. I've told her you all say hello! So for goodness sake don't make a liar out of me. Say hello. She'll be getting back in touch with me after the meeting TH night. They are hammering out the food details. They're thinking about a float ---maybe class reunion t-shirts. There is about $1,000 in the class account. Donations from classmates through the years I guess. If anyone has any thoughts about these things let me know and I'll tell her or better yet drop Linda a line.

Karen, you aren't eavesdropping, you belong here! I'm glad to see your post. Janice told me about your move and then I got a quick note from Rich giving an address we could use once you got a little settled. Moving is tough. We came here 12 ish years ago and transplanting the boys was hard on them. Like you, the move was far enough away that we had to find a house after we were located here. Stayed in a hotel awhile and then rented an apartment, finally found a house after a number of months in transition. Eventually we settled in and found we liked living here. I hope you are able to settle soon and be comfortable. Sorry we probably won't see you in June but perhaps that will happen after all! keep in touch.

Karen, I hope that you are able to make it. I enjoyed seeing you at the 25th reunion and will miss seeing you at this one. I hope that somehow you'll be able to come, but I caertainly understand moving, and trying to find a house, and dealing with winter. Now that we are all in touch again thanks to Brian, email, and technology, there is no reason why we can't get back in touch with our friends and as Pat has said many times, make new friends. Hope you find a house soon, and that spring arrives soon.

Hi, after eavesdropping on your site for a few days, I thought I would say "hello"! After 7 years in Lexington, KY, Rich and I and two of our 4 kids moved in February to Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am not thrilled with being back in cold weather, but it is a nice area with a lot to offer. I enjoyed the 25th reunion and thought that I would make it to this one, but we have yet to find a house and we have quite a few obligations in June. Until this move, we made it back to Springfield for a week in the summer and a few days at Christmas every year. Most of the time is spent with our families there but we always try to see Janice and Butch Stearns. I really haven't been in touch with anyone else from the class of '72 and Rich hasn't kept up with the class of '70 either. My mom fills me in on those of you that she and my dads run into at the various flea markets that they do. Hope that the reunion is a big success, and if our plans change we will certainly let someone know ASAP. Hoping for spring..........soon! Karen Millay Stover

Both, I am getting both of them and it liks them to classmates.com. I keep getting newsletters and Alumni news..........Dave was inducted in the CSC Sportsman Hall of Fame and was a prof. down at UVA in VA. on the Charlottesville campus.........I was about 50 miles form there and always wondered if I should stop and say "hi". He just moved recently to NC State and is in the Phys. Ed. Dept. there..........I did get a directory years ago with some people in it, but can't seem to find it now........I'll keep checking. I only kept up with the group of people I knew there.......both at Ellis and Wheeler. Jean Crosby is teaching in the Middlebury school system, my sister sees her from time to time. I'm not sure if you knew some of the people I hung out with. Rhona is still in Colorado, and I saw her back in 1989.........still the same. I'll try and find it, I will be moving soon, so maybe I will find it then.

Nancy, Where are you reading about Dave Perrin? Do you have a way to get in touch with him? I don't have contact with any of the CSC folks at this point. I have some fond and some not so fond memories of my time there. I did have one friend from CSC at my wedding but we have since lost touch. It's hard to stay friends with guys when you are newly married. You sort of lose your focus on your other life unless you new partner is part of that life.

I've been getting responses to the letters/invites that were sent out. I'm curious to know if I'm hearing from people because of the letter I sent or the invites that classmates.com sent out.

Hi Pat, Have you heard from any of the old CSC people? I read about Dave Perrin from time to time, I believe he was at UVA in Charlottesville and now down at NC State. I used to go to VA alot years ago, really nice area there, alot like VT. I keep in touch with some people I have met while at CSC, but none of the SHS alumni that went there, guess we all went our separate ways. Have you been to any of the CSC reunions?

Jerry, I just found out that Jane lived here a couple of weeks ago. Alice and I talk from time to time. I found out at the 25th reunion that she was here, but couldn't find her. Thanks to refinment in the internet I found her brother about two years ago, contacted him and he told me that Alice and I are living in the same city. I don't see her as often as I would like, but she has a son a year older than my daughter, he goes to one Jr. High, my daughter another, but they will go to the same High School in a coule of years, and they are both in the band, if that continues I'm sure we'll see lots more of each other

Many thanks to the group that is meeting and telephoning and visiting and asking questions and gathering information. Jane, I see that it got up to at least 80 in Dallas today. How was that? It might reach 60 around here tomorrow. Have you just found out that Nancy, Alice and Rob are right in the same area as you, or have you ever contacted any of them before this? OK, I never did this, but if I'd ever skinny dipped it might have been in Seavers Brook in the culvert running under South Street near the former Ginter home at Scrabble Four Corners. Y'all know where that is? Or anybody remember a party Sue Ainsworth had at the pond at her house once? Was any done there???

Forgot to mention that they are looking into some sort of entertainment also.
Not sure of all the final details until later this is just a brief discussion on what has been talked about.
The place and date are definite from what I understand.

Ok here is an update from Ron Young. They have rented the Rockingham Inn which has a Motor Lodge on the 22nd. It will hold about 200 people I guess. It has a hall and a Motel right there which the Motel I think will hold about 30 or 40 people. The rates for the Motel are about 70.00 for 2 people. We have the hall from Noon on into the night. They are looking about how much it would cost to cater a meal. Understand that most everything around is booked up for that time. This was the most reasonable place from the choices. It would be nice to get an idea on how many might show so that they can figure out what the cost of Catering will be. So Ron has asked to get a count on here how many might show. They are working hard on getting some sort of invitation out to this. They have the addresses from 5 years ago. The next meeting will be on the 21st of this month at the Spfld. High School in the cafeteria to go over more planning. They are trying to figure out all options. It's not easy in the town where ghost live. The hall has volleyball and horseshoes out back. This is our 30th and they are working hard at trying to put something together for us all. There is only a hand full of people that have been going to the meetings so it’s not like we have everybody doing something. They have already talked to allot of people at different places. Anyway I just thought that I would post this and let everybody here know what the update is at this point. Location of this place is after you get off exit 6 I believe on 91 then head towards Bellows Falls it is down the road about a mile on the left. Not sure of the exact distance. So that is it for now to all the bloggers. Keep blogging. Keep in mind that there could be some blogging errors.

I know I was not skinny dipping alone at 20 Foot and I also know someone went over the fence for a dip in the town pool, I just can't remember who it was. Surely you can't still be fined for admitting it and I think it is definitely worth the bragging rights to claim some very decent exposure.

I'll be off line for a few days. Travelling south to a training session on the use of and integration of the ibook into our classrooms. We're all PC people so this should be interested. Our middle school is one of 8 in the state of Maine chosen as a pilot school for a planned fall rollout of ibooks for every 7th grader in the state. They'll be school owned and maintained but each school has its' own ideas of what to do with them as far as letting them go home with students etc. We're not letting them out of our sight for the first year.

Prim and proper little ole me would have to say I get no points at all. I never went skinny dipping anywhere near Springfield. Although I used to go skinny dipping in Silver Lake in Barnard when my family was at camp over there. No points for that though I guess. The fresh water around here all has leeches. No skinny dipping recommended.

Maybe a game would help. Where have you been skinny dipping in the Springfield area (bonus points for the town pool)? Would you do it again?

I can only claim 20' swimming hole in Reading, under the train trestle bridge on the Williams river, and a miserable attempt with Brian King at Candy and Brad Ingalls' pool. It was 2:00 AM and we got wet, but we were quickly in the spotlight with Lorraine and Bob (the parents) choking back laughter from their balcony.

In the future, I might skinny dip at 20', but definitely not that at the Ingalls' pool.

Don't have anything to add about the reunion. Just felt like saying hi again. Hi! Who else is out there?

I'm sorry to say I haven't gotten any e-mail from any who went to the meeting last TH at Riverside. I don't know what that means. I assume the meeting was held. if there is anyone who knows what is happening with the plans I know we'd all like to hear about it.

Dick, it was kind of awkward but he was wonderful about it. I realized later I hadn't made myself clear, but he kept up with me very well. It was a nice call, glad I called him too.

Pat, My mom sees Ann every once in a while......I guess we have to do some creative networking. I need to talk to Sue and Polly and see who they have been talking to. She said that Kelly's dad had just passed away recently, they had a service at the same chruch her parents attend. do you know of anyone in the western Ma/CT. area? I travel alot for business and may be able to get in touch with some in that area. Her husband worked for TI.

I spoke with Sue A a few time last month. She is in the Burlington/Essex area and seems well. Though I haven't heard from her in a couple of weeks. Her e-mail address should be valid. Just keeping quiet for now I guess.
Several of the classmates members are not responding to mail I sent in regard to joining the e-mail list. Other messages came back as undeliverable. Jim Dumas for one.

Brian, I tried to contact Sue (Ainsworth), but no go so far............I have been talking to Karen Blais, Sue Goding, and Polly Smolnik.......they are all back in the Spfld. area........what can I do to help? I have not heard from many since high school..............

Man, it's gonna take some work to find our classmates, isn't it? I've been looking on the web, but I have lost touch with just about everyone. And how do you search for Rick Smith, or Eric Smith, or. really, anybody?

I've been sending out emails to possibles, but we should make this a hobby of the week, and get everyone working on it. Robin, you go down 2 buildings to Shorey's and see if she's there. Everyone else, try to remember where you last heard from someone not on the list.
